02/12/2018 - Lecture: The Romance Of Ruins: American Painters And The Italian Landscape The ancient Greek and Roman ruins that dot the Italian landscape from the Roman Campagna to Paestum and Sicily provided an irresistible lure for many American painters throughout the nineteenth century.
Artists such as Washington Allston, Thomas Cole, George Inness, Frederick Edwin Church, Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Moran and countless others took inspiration from the tangible echoes of the Classical past to create romantic evocations of a vanished civilization.

02/13/2018 - Exhibit: Age of the BaroqueThe story of the Age of Baroque is a tale of today. To examine the 17th century is to reveal the 21st: two centuries united by tribalism, sectarianism, and acquiescence to unreasoning power.
We shall explore this dynamic period through the lens of its greatest artists. Art has always been the handmaiden of power, its uses and abuses magnified by this era. The power of grand monarchs of this period is clearly evident, whether through Philip IV of Spain, France

01/20/2018 - Museum Exhibition: The Language of ThingsSan Diego Art Institute, a regional contemporary art center in Balboa Park, will launch its 2018 exhibition programming with a dynamic multimedia installation and curated event series entitled "The Language of Things" by binational artist Roberto Romero-Molino. Inspiring cross-cultural collaboration in the regional art community, this exhibition is a partnership between the San Diego Art Institute and the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT).
A surreal landscape of electronic birdsong and Stonehenge-like arrangements of TV screens, "The Language of Things" is filled with sound and video that changes over time, so that every second during the presentation is a unique moment for the spectator. The exhibition takes the viewer deep into the world of perception, peeling back layers of cultural expectation to reveal the wonder and mystery of everyday sounds, images and objects.
The exhibition will open with a reception on Saturday, January 20, and will follow with a robust programming schedule, including listening workshops with the artist, a coding seminar, and live electroacoustic, and instrumental concerts including San Diego
