09/24/2016 - Bonsai Club Fall Exhibition and Sale
Bonsai will be on display. There will be bonsai technique demonstrations on Sunday only at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM Bonsai of varying sizes and species as well as other bonsai-related items will be for sale by club members at attractive prices.

09/05/2016 - Chinese Historical Society: Community Appreciation Month
The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum is opening its doors to the public with free admission to learn about all that they do, share ideas, celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, and enjoy prizes and giveaways.

Community Appreciation Month will be held from September 1 through September 30. There will be a raffle drawing every Thursday and prizes include gift certificates from local businesses, free SDCHM memberships, museum gift shop items, and more.

Free admission is provided for a filling out a quick survey at the museum. Every person who fills out a questionnaire will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize.

Join us as Henry Wo Yue-kee demonstrates his unique and expressive painting style in the Chuang Archive and Learning Center. His books The Poetic Spirit and The Inner World of Henry Wo Yue-kee will be available for purchase. There will be a light reception to follow.

Papel Chicano Dos: Works on Paper from the Collection of Cheech Marin presents artworks by Chicano artists including established figures such as Carlos Almaraz, John Valadez, and Margaret Garcia, as well as younger emerging artists such as Wenceslao Quiroz and Carlos Donjuan, whose work demonstrates a range of techniques from watercolor and aquatint to pastel and mixed media.

The visual arts were integral to the Chicano movement of the mid-1960s and continue to be a powerful tool for Mexican-American and Chicano communities to voice the issues that affect them today. The works
