| 10:00 AM | Talk: Human Security in the Middle East and South Asia Regions across the Middle East and South Asia are often discussed in global affairs headlines daily, yet less frequently understood through lived perspective. For those interested in international affairs, there is real value in looking beyond headlines to better understand the people, cultures, and realities that shape these regions. Drawing on recent travel and field exposure in Turkey, Syria, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Socotra,Bogdan's program offers reflections on how communities navigate uncertainty, how local dynamics influence outcomes, and how daily life continues amid broader geopolitical challenges. The discussion will take a practical look at how different parts of society, governments, local leaders, community groups, and even media and social media, interact and influence one another in ways that aren’t always obvious at first glance. It will also explore how global education, cross-cultural exchange, and community-based efforts can help people better understand one another and contribute to long-term stability. At its core, this presentation highlights a simple but meaningful idea: whether locally or globally, individuals can play a role in building understanding, strengthening communities, and creating more constructive dialogue through education, service, and engagement. In an era shaped by rapid information flow and competing narratives, the ability to question assumptions, improve media literacy, and engage constructively across cultures is increasingly important. This conversation encourages participants to reflect on how greater awareness, combined with service and civic engagement, can help bridge divides and support more informed global perspectives.

| Dance: Tango Elite Step into a world where elegance, music, and passion collide. Tango Elite — The Show is a cinematic journey into the soul of Argentine tango. Inspired by the timeless glamour of Old Hollywood, the stage becomes a living film — where the spirits of legendary cinema characters seem to return through movement, music, and emotion. Under dramatic lights and sweeping orchestral sound, extraordinary dancers bring to life the many faces of tango — from its raw origins to its most refined expression. Every scene unfolds like a story, every step a line of poetry. At the heart of the experience is live music by the internationally acclaimed orchestra Tango Bardo, whose powerful sound drives the rhythm of the night and fills the theatre with the pulse of Buenos Aires. This production gathers a cast of artists recognized for their excellence, artistry, and legacy — performers who have shaped tango stages around the world. But Tango Elite is more than a performance. It is a homage to the productions that introduced tango to the world — from the legendary Tango Argentino of Claudio Segovia to the iconic shows Tango Pasión and Forever Tango. Those productions ignited a global love for tango. Tango Elite — The Show is the next chapter. Not a remake, but an evolution — honoring the roots while elevating the experience for a new generation of audiences. For tango lovers — and for anyone who loves great theatre — this is an evening designed to leave you breathless: elegant visuals, athletic precision, live orchestra power, and the unmistakable feeling that something historic is unfolding before your eyes. This production brings together extraordinary artists, a world-class orchestra, and a cinematic vision created for major stages. Experience tango the way it was meant to be seen.

| Exhibit: Amoxtlis Amoxtlis—the Nahuatl word for “codices”—centers Sánchez’s large-scale printmaking practice, which draws from the visual language of Mesoamerican codices while engaging the cultural and political conditions of the U.S.–Mexico border. At the heart of the installation is Codex Tonalpohualli, a series of towering printed banners that reference the twenty day signs of the divinatory calendar of the sun. In this calendar, time unfolds through cycles of thirteen days associated with birth and renewal. Sánchez translates this structure into an immersive environment: carved wooden codices are printed in red and black ink on monumental sheets of paper measuring sixteen feet high. Suspended from ceiling to floor, the banners surround the viewer, creating a dense vertical landscape that evokes a forest of signs and symbols. The exhibition also includes video work, eight large-scale carved wooden sculptures, and a mural created on the gallery wall during the exhibition’s run. These elements extend Sánchez’s exploration of narrative image-making across multiple forms, from print and sculpture to moving image and architectural intervention. Throughout the installation, references to popular culture intersect with mythic imagery and historical forms of knowledge transmission. Sánchez describes his work as “pop-multiculture,” a hybrid language shaped by the movement of people, images, and ideas across borders. Working across printmaking, sculpture, drawing, performance, and graphic design, he brings together references from pre-Columbian codices, contemporary Chicano visual culture, and mass media. His imagery reflects the layered histories that connect Mexico and the United States, while addressing the political and human realities that define the border today.

| Film: Winners The first day at a new school can be tough for any kid, but for 11-year-old Mona it’s downright chaotic. She and her Kurdish family have fled their home in Syria and ended up in Germany in search of a better life, but Mona is having a hard time fitting in. She’s still learning German and misses her hometown and playing soccer with her friends. Chaos is the order of the day at her new school, where most of the teachers are worn to a frazzle and the students are just as frustrated with their teachers. When Mr. Che, the coach of the girls’ soccer team sees Mona’s soccer skills, he puts her on the team. Although they are training for an upcoming tournament for all of Berlin’s schools, the team is anything but harmonious. Mona is singled-out and is blamed for the team’s troubles. With the tournament quickly approaching, they realize that if they want to win, they must stop fighting, treat each other as equals, and learn the true meaning of teamwork. Winner of the 2024 German Film Award for Best Children’s Film, Yusuf’s second feature is an inspirational, fast-paced coming-of-age film with a fresh, young perspective on the importance of family, friendship, and belonging.

| 5:00 PM | Food: Chinese Pulled Noodles In this hands-on class, students will learn the art of traditional Chinese pulled noodles (lā miàn) alongside the preparation of a versatile “mother sauce” that forms the backbone of countless noodle dishes. Participants will explore dough development, gluten structure, and the rhythmic pulling technique that transforms a simple mixture of flour, water, and salt into long, elastic strands of noodles. The class culminates in assembling a complete dish, pairing freshly pulled noodles with a deeply flavored, adaptable sauce. Chinese pulled noodles trace their origins back over 4,000 years, with early evidence found during the Han Dynasty. Lā miàn, meaning “pulled noodles,” became especially prominent in Northern China, where wheat-based foods dominate. Over time, noodle-making evolved into both a culinary craft and a performance art, with skilled chefs stretching dough into hundreds of strands in a matter of seconds. The concept of a “mother sauce” reflects a broader Chinese cooking philosophy: mastering foundational sauces allows for endless variation across regional cuisines.
