Syria: The Story Behind the Conflict
Having served together at the U.S. Embassy in Syria, speakers George Novinger and Wael Sawah will be sharing the intricacies of the conflict in the country by exploring the political, social, economic and religious factors that have played a part in Syria's descent. They will be presenting the audience with an overview of the Syrian refugee crisis, as well as Syria's prospects for the future. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in the discussion following the presentation.

George Novinger was the acting Deputy Chief of Mission from 2008-2010 at the U.S. Embassy in Syria and Wael Sawah was the Senior Political Adviser.
