Author Talk: Oliva M. Espín

Books & Literature

Join Alliant International University for a presentation honoring National Hispanic Heritage Month, where Dr. Oliva M. Espín, Professor emerita at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University, discusses her memoir about her childhood in Cuba in the 40s and 50s.

She’ll examine Cuba’s fraught history and political instability, interweaving all with memories of life at that time. The book is a narrative of her struggle for identity and independence against the backdrop of a country in turmoil and the experience of migration, loss, and perseverance.

The book and presentation touch on cultural-historical specificity, psychological analysis, and insight into the complexity of relationships that influence the development of the human psyche, providing a perspective on lifelong development.

This presentation is part of the One Book, One Alliant series, in collaboration with the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University and its Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity.
