In Celebration of Toni Morrison: Reflecting on a Legend
In Celebration of Toni Morrison: Reflecting on a LegendThe passing of Nobel laureate, Toni Morrison, in August 2019, has been felt as an irreplaceable loss by many who were inspired by the power and beauty of her writing, her advocacy for Black writers, and the incisive and uncompromising commentary on race in the United States in her novels, essays and interviews. Morrison's work features in courses and scholarship at universities and colleges around the nation, including UC San Diego.

Join us for a panel of scholars who will read from Toni Morrison's works and reflect on her impact.

Panelists and moderator include:

Boatema Boateng, Associate Professor, Department of Communication, UC San Diego, Carlton Floyd, Associate Professor, Department of English, University of San Diego, Theresa Ford, Member, Toni Morrison Society & Professor Emerita, Grossmont College, Sara Clarke Kaplan, Associate Professor, Department of Ethnic Studies, UC San Diego, Charles Toombs, Professor, Department of Africana Studies, San Diego State University

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
