All Day Between Two Worlds Exhibit Join us in a once in a lifetime experience to honor and share the Lao American refugee journey!

On May 10, 2019 from 6-9pm the Center for Lao Studies will be sponsoring a Lao Cultural night at the New Americans Museum in San Diego, CA with VIP speakers, cultural dance performances, Lao artists, Lao food and drinks.

Between Two Worlds is a traveling exhibit of Untold Stories of Refugees from Laos sponsored by the Center for Lao Studies in conjunction with The McConnell Foundation, The New Americans Museum, California Humanities, and the Central Valley Community Foundation.

The exhibit is on displayed from April 19 to July 28, 2019 with various events and activities throughout this time.

6:00 PM Women's International Film Festival San Diego This annual film festival was created to celebrate women's stories and experiences through film. The two-day festival highlights the importance of female representation in the film industry, including women both in front of and behind the camera. Between 2007 and 2017 Women only represented 4% of the top-grossing films directors, The Women's Film Festival San Diego strives to close the gender gap in filmmaking by showcasing women directed films from around the world. The festival kicks off Friday, April 19 with a red carpet and opening reception at the Lyceum Theatre.

7:00 PM Film: Timbuktu In his magnificent feature film, Abderrahmane Sissako demonstrates his remarkable ability to thoroughly condemn religious fanaticism and intolerance with subtlety and restraint.

Timbuktu concerns the jihadist siege of the Malian city of the title in 2012. Directed by Abderrahmane Sissako.

This film is a part of the Tournées French Film Festival at MiraCosta College.

But Bernard's perfect life experiences some turbulence when his friend Robert comes to stay and a new speedier Boeing jet throws off all of his careful planning. Soon all three flight attendants are in town simultaneously, timid Robert forgets which lies to tell to whom, and catastrophe looms. Fasten your seat belts, we are in for a bumpy ride!
