2:00 PM Book Signing: Jean Guerrero - Crux The San Carlos Branch Library welcomes Jean Guerrero to discuss her book, Crux: A Cross-Border Memoir, winner of the PEN/FUSION Emerging Writers prize. In this lyrical, haunting memoir, Guerrero tries to locate the border between truth and fantasy as she searches for explanations for her father's behavior. She is an Emmy-winning investigative immigration reporter for KPBS in San Diego; she contributes to NPR, PBS, PRI's The World and other public media. She was named "Latina Journalist on the Rise" from one of the 15 most influential Latina journalists in Southern California by CCNMA. The San Diego City Beat picked her as one of San Diego's "Best People." The Library Shop will be onsite to sell copies of Crux to support the San Diego Public Library Foundation.

The Museum will offer free admission, including access to Art and Empire: The Golden Age of Spain, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Enjoy hands-on art-making activities, live music and dance performances, and learn about how the Spanish empire influenced the exchange of culture throughout the world.

5:30 PM Stage: The Comedy of Errors The North Coast Rep Theater School presents Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors

The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins that were accidentally separated at birth. Antipholus of Syracuse and his servant, Dromio of Syracuse, arrive in Ephesus, which turns out to be the home of their long lost twins, who go by the same names: Antipholus of Ephesus and his servant, Dromio of Ephesus. When the Syracusans encounter the friends and families of their twins, a series of wild mishaps based on mistaken identities lead to wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, the arrest of Antipholus of Ephesus, and false accusations of infidelity, theft, madness, and demonic possession.

7:00 PM Music: Bulevar Descaega Bulevar Descarga performs a variety of genres such as traditional Latin American rhythms, funk, soul, rock, reggae, and more.

Música En La Plaza is a free community series that will take place from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM the last Friday of each month. The series will feature music, dancing, tacos and tequila. While admission to the events are free, seats can also be purchased for $12 or $40 for a table of four.

7:00 PM La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival The 10th La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival will be held in July 26-27, 2019. La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival is the first international fashion film festival founded in North America.

Hundreds of fashion filmmakers from around the world will be in attendance, being enthralled by the top 1% of fashion films produced worldwide at the upcoming 10th year of LJIFFF.

From our neighbors in Hollywood to the fashion capitals of the world, we will come together once again to network, make deals, attend seminars & panels, screen films, go to press receptions, participate in After Parties, and win awards.

The films that make it into the final program will represent some of the most brilliant and creative directors in filmmaking today. Curated from the dynamic and the exploding world of fashion film, are a glimpse of what's trending in the minds of the world's top fashion houses, designers, and stylists interpreted through the lens of their filmmaking counterparts.

7:30 PM Opera NEO Festival: The Cabaret Opera NEO's signature festival event, "The Cabaret", features opera, operetta, and Broadway scenes, served up in a festive atmosphere with dinner, desserts, and champagne.

"The Cabaret" is held at the Encinitas Library, on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27 at 7:30 pm. Join the young stars of Opera NEO for a fun-filled evening of opera, musical theater scenes and cabaret songs.

Enjoy a buffet dinner (catered by Athens Market Taverna), desserts, and coffee in a relaxed, cabaret-style atmosphere! (Champagne and wine will also be available for purchase.)

The event supports the work of Opera NEO, a nonprofit arts organization whose mission is to mentor and feature the next generation of young operatic talents.
