We have two Gold Medal Winning Artists giving lessons over the three and a half day annual convention. Instructors are Jan Norsetter and Pam Rucinski. 10:00 AM Border Angels Caravan of Love We will be meeting at our main office at Sherman Heights Community Center at 10:00 AM (subject to change). From here we will distribute donations between cars and carpool over the border to various shelters. Please specify whether you would like to be a passenger or a driver in your sign-up form. If you are signing up as a passenger please keep in mind that it is not 100% guaranteed that there will be availability in other cars. Also please bring $5 - $10 to give the driver for gas money.

Before we head across the border, our Caravan leader, Hugo, will usually say a few words. We suggest you bring some water and snacks for yourself because the day usually ends up running long. And of course, don't forget your passport!

It is most likely that your car insurance for driving in the United States is not valid in Mexico. You can simply and quickly purchase coverage for the day through AAA.

Also, please keep in mind when you are visiting these shelters, these are peoples' homes. So please use respect and tact, especially when photographing. Make sure you ask someone's permission before taking their picture, and particularly parents' permission before taking a picture of a child.

When signing up please provide a cellphone number for yourself, as well as an emergency contact.

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Dia de los Muertos at Rancho Guajome Adobe Celebrate a 3,000-year-old "Dia de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead) ritual - a time for the dead to return home to visit loved ones, feast on their favorite foods, drinks and listen to their favorite music. The historic Rancho Guajome Adobe will have offerings to remember the dead and honor ancestors, which may consist of foods, photographs, flowers, candles, toys and other symbolic offerings, created by community members. The event will include performances by Ballet Folklorico, live traditional music, children's activities, and food and craft vendors.

All ages are welcome! Inclement weather may cancel this event.

11:00 AM Balboa Park Halloween Family Day The region's largest free Halloween carnival celebrates its 11th year of providing families a fun, safe, and culturally inspired kickoff to their Halloween activities. The Balboa Park Halloween Family Day on October 26, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, features dozens of free craft projects for kids, Day of the Dead-themed displays and activities, costume contests and parades, carnival games with prizes, live entertainment, and food trucks. Participating museums also offer free admission to children 12 and under with paying adult.

More than two dozen participating museums, cultural attractions, and community partners present free hands-on activities for kids in the Plaza de Panama and El Prado walkway, while select museums offer additional Halloween-themed activities inside their buildings.

Among the day's highlights are mini-carnival games for prizes courtesy of the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department, a giant Day of the Dead altar set up by La Vista Memorial Park and Cemetery, a haunted lantern craft at the Japanese Friendship Garden booth, a rooftop pumpkin drop experiment in front of the San Diego Air & Space Museum, and a "Thriller" flash mob dance in the Plaza de Panama that anyone can learn and participate in.

In keeping with our mission, we believe this free family event will foster an appreciation and awareness of this significant Latino cultural celebration while uniting people of all backgrounds and traditions. The event draws more than 4,500 attendees each year from North County and greater San Diego County. The festival is geared toward families offering great performances by Mariachi bands and exciting Ballet Folklorico groups on stage. Plus art-making workshops, artist demonstrations, a Day of the Dead art exhibit by local students, food trucks and a low-rider car show. 9:30 PM Comedy: Dante Chang Nicknamed "The Black Asian", Dante is considered one of the fastest rising comedians in the game. His unique perspective comes from an Asian background with an urban upbringing in Washington D.C. Dante's obsessive work ethic had landed him his first headlining gig within his first six months of stand up comedy. Years later, he has been able to perform all over the country with his passion for laughter.
