4:00 PM Talk: Is America Facing an Immigration Crisis? Is there a crisis at the US-Mexico border? If so, what caused it, and what can we do to address it? Should America tighten its borders and crack-down on illegal immigration? Should it place further restrictions on legal immigration? Or should it move in the opposite direction, toward a policy of relatively open borders and free migration? Join USD's Center for Ethics, Economics, and Public Policy for a conversation on this important and timely topic featuring Rich Lowry (National Review) and Jason Riley (Manhattan Institute, Wall Street Journal). Admission is free, and all are welcome. Please register in advance.

7:30 PM Film: The Soul And The Blood This incredible documentary is a journey through the life, works, and struggles of the great artist Michelangelo Merisi, who took on the name of his hometown, Caravaggio. His life as well as his art was marked by lights and shadows, genius and intemperance, contrasts and contradictions. A revolutionary artist, he was often not so beloved by his contemporaries. He travelled Italy in search of good fortune or perhaps in search of himself, escaping the enemies he always seemed to make along the way, from Milan to Venice, Rome, Naples, Malta, and Sicily. Even his death seems a twist of fate: he died in Porto Ercole, one step away from Rome and salvation.

Admission/Cost: $8 - $12

Location:
Museum of Photographic Arts
1649 EL Prado
Balboa Park
San Diego, CA 92103

8:00 PM Stage: Hershey Felder as Monsieur Chopin Join beloved artist Hershey Felder at a strictly limited engagement celebrating one of the world's greatest composers in Hershey Felder as Monsieur Chopin. Originally created in 2006, following a sold-out national tour, this intimate theatrical event returns to San Diego in a new updated production featuring the romantic story and music of the Polish pianist-composer, Fryderyk Chopin. The story begins at Chopin's salon in Paris where Monsieur Chopin will teach a piano lesson that actually took place in March 1848, just days after the February 1848 revolution. As the piano lesson unfolds, he reveals secrets about the art of the piano and composition, as well as secrets about himself. In this reprisal, Hershey Felder revisits Monsieur Chopin and delves deep into the music and psyche of the man, considered by his contemporaries, and now by history, as the true "Poet of the Piano." As he did last year with Beethoven, Hershey Felder will feature some of the composer's most beautiful enduring music while entertaining us in his unique and theatrical style, as only Hershey can.

Admission/Cost: $71 - $109

Location:
San Diego Repertory Theatre
79 Horton Plaza
San Diego, CA 92101
