All Day San Diego County Fair The San Diego County Fair offers all of the deep-fried foods-on-a-stick, rides, animals and games you've experienced at other state and county fairs, but this fair is also known for world-class exhibits in fine art, photography, woodworking, jewelry/gems and minerals, home and hobby, and the Paul Ecke Jr. Flower & Garden Show...not to mention an unsurpassed view of the Pacific Ocean from the Ferris Wheel! The Toyota Summer Concert Series at the San Diego County Fair features nationally recognized entertainment every night; the entertainment lineup is usually announced in late March. With an additional eight stages located throughout the grounds, you're sure to find a band, dance troupe, DJ or comedian to suit your fancy!

This year's fair features numerous Latino performing artists and groups.

Admission/Cost: Free - $19 per day. Many discount packages and ticket deals can be found.

10:30 AM Cooper Family Juneteenth Celebration Juneteenth celebrates Black Independence Day. It's a day of celebration with prayer and worship and gives recognition to community leaders. The event presents African history, drumming, and dancing and includes a Teen Stage, a Fun Zone, merchandise booths, light refreshments, and a talent show.

10:30 AM Talk: Seven Days In The Valle De Guadalupe Culinary Historians of San Diego will present "Seven Days in the Valle de Guadalupe," featuring Michael Gardiner and W. Scott Koenig.

They will discuss the Valle scene and how it bloomed while they take their audience through a week there … all in an hour!
Michael Gardiner is a freelance writer and licensed California attorney living in San Diego and Rosarito Beach, Baja California. A graduate of Amherst College and the University of Wisconsin School of Law, Gardiner practices business law and litigation during the day and cooks and writes by night. He is the food writer for San Diego CityBeat and a freelance writer for Thrillist, Edible San Diego and Fox News Latino, among others. He is also a primary writer for the San Diego Food & Travel Blog, and a co-host of The Art of Spooning Podcast, which focuses on issues in food and the restaurant industry in San Diego and nationally — on the Specialty Produce Network.

San Diego-based lifestyle writer W. Scott Koenig founded AGringoInMexico.com to report on Mexico travel destinations food, culture and adventure. Scott is author of the book "Seven Days in The Valle: Baja California's Wine Country Cuisine," writes columns for DiningOut San Diego, SanDiegoRed.com and DiscoverBajacom, and has been widely published online and in print. He is the Food Expert for Baja California at XtremeFoodies.tv, an international culinary site curated by over 275 experts worldwide. Scott also organizes and conducts public and private culinary tours of Baja California; has fixed film and video productions in the region and has worked with the Food Channel, the BBC, KPBS and the Culinary Institute of America.
