Debunking Myths: Migration, Criminalization of the Border. . .
As we are all aware, borders remain a critical subject of debate around the world. The purpose of these Teach Ins are to provide a setting for our campus to discuss the relationship between borders and ethnicity, race and gender in the context of a local border area that is the largest and most well-known today that remains a complex and contested space. Both of these presentations will allow participants to reflect on issues of race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, citizenship, trans-nationalism and cultural/national identity in relation to the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands.

Warwick's will host Laila Lalami to discuss and sign her new book, The Other Americans. Lalami is an American Book Award Winner, Arab American Book Award Winner, and Pulitzer Prize finalist. This event is free and open to the public. Reserved Seating is available when one of the books is pre-ordered from Warwick's for the event. Only books purchased from Warwick's will be signed.

Witches' Night: An Exploration of Witches in Pop-Culture
Led by SDSU Professor Dr. Elizabeth Pollard and Film Geek Beth Accomando, this program takes place over two nights timed to coincide with the ancient European festival called Witches' Night. An illustrated lecture on April 30 will explore pop culture's deep relationship with witches and witchcraft. The following evening (May 1) will be a screening and post-film discussion of The Witch: A New England Folk Tale.
