Poetry of Resilience: From Haiku to Free Verse

Central Library, 330 Park Boulevard, San Diego

During WWII, San Diego librarian Clara Breed wrote hundreds of letters to young Japanese Americans in incarceration camps, serving as a reminder of the possibility for decency and justice in a troubled world. Join 14 of San Diego’s best poets, including the City’s inaugural Poet Laureate, Ron Salisbury, for an afternoon of restorative poetry. Poets will read and perform poems written specifically for this current historical moment of deep national reflection during a deadly pandemic which has locked down our lives and created isolation and fear. This is a San Diego poetry and spoken word summit of the highest order featuring Poet Laureate Salisbury and a diversity of voices including Ant Black, Karla Cordero, Sharon Elise, Rudy Francisco, Olga Garcia, Michael Klam, Viet Mai, Katie Manning, Robt O'Sullivan Schleith, Gil Sotu, Jeff Walt, Ted Washington, Ying Wu, and more.
