Film: Traveling While Black

Film

We are excited to announce the VR film "Traveling While Black," opening June 11 in Liberty Station. This documentary-style virtual reality film immerses the viewer in the long history of restriction of movement for black Americans and the creation of safe spaces in our communities. "Traveling While Black" is directed by Academy Award winner Roger Ross Williams and produced by Emmy Award-winning Felix & Paul Studios.

This film will be showing for one weekend only, Friday, June 11, through Sunday, June 13. Tickets are limited, so book yours now before showtimes sell out. Your visit will last approximately 30 minutes.

About "Traveling While Black"
The film begins in the historic Ben's Chili Bowl in Washington D.C. with an intimate series of moments between several patrons reflecting on their experiences of restricted movement and race relations in the U.S. Confronting the way we understand and talk about race in America, "Traveling While Black" highlights the urgent need to not only remember the past but to learn from it, and facilitate a dialogue about the challenges minority travelers still face today.

Health and Cleanliness
To create a safe environment for our visitors and team, we’ll continue to implement comprehensive health and cleanliness protocols consistent with government recommendations. Details can be viewed here.

The Virtual Reality Film Series
Through a partnership with the NTC Foundation, we will be bringing award-winning films to Liberty Station through the end of the year. Tickets for future films will be released shortly. Stay tuned for more email announcements.
