18th Annual Kuumba Fest
18th Annual Kuumba FestThe 18th annual Kuumba Fest promises "positive cultural images, healthy challenges, and spiritual rejuvenation." Events begin on Friday with traditional ceremonial pre-fest opening in the courtyard with vendors, fashion, cultural art, music, food, drumming, dance, libations. "Royal Court" begins at 7:30 with parade of history, warrior kings, queens and ancient pharaohs. Also on tap: the play Black at the Gate.

Saturday promises opening of marketplace (11 AM), educational workshops (Noon), youth play (1 PM), dance and step showcase (3 PM),
"Late Nite Live" (9 PM), more.

Marketplace opens at 1 PM on Sunday, with "The Living Truth" biographical monologues (3:30 PM), cooking demonstrations (4 PM), gospel event (7 PM), more.

Admission: $5 - $20

Sunday Schedule of Events ($20 for two shows and a meal)

1:00 PM Re-opening of the African Market Place Live D-jay, Poetry, Art exhibit including a local youth showcase of art, Kingdom Building discussion about healthy active fit temples. (Free)

2:00 PM African Market Place and vendor fashion, style and entertainment showcase. (Free)

3:00 PM "The Living Truth" series of bio graphical dramatic monologues performed by powerful Christians willing to share their personal testimonies of challenge and victory. ($10)

4:00 PM Taste of Soul healthy cooking demonstration and social networking banquet. ($7)

7:00 PM "How Great Thou Art" Gospel event honor some of San Diego's greatest promters, pastors and ministers in a foot stomping, hand clapping and Joyous praise awards show and celebration. ($ 10)

9:00 Close.
