3:00 PM Balboa Park December Nights Balboa Park December Nights brings families and friends together to spread holiday joy and kick-off the "most wonderful time of the year" with lights and more!

Balboa Park December Nights, the nation's premier holiday festival, will take place for the 40th consecutive year on Friday, December 1 from 3:00 to 11:00 PM and Saturday, December 2 from noon to 11:00 PM. Friends, families and the community are invited to come together for festive fun, food and attractions throughout the park, including complimentary admission to Balboa Park museums from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. The largest free community festival in San Diego, December Nights is expected to attract more than 350,000 visitors to the park over two days to enjoy and revel in the season.

4:30 PM Festival: Global Winter Wonderland This multi-cultural holiday festival features traditional illuminated Chinese lanterns plus live acrobatic performances, rides, carnival games and international cuisine. 5:00 PM Discussion: Krampus Comes to New Americans Museum Could Krampus be a New American? This creature of European holiday folklore is popular in the Alpine regions of Europe and is celebrated with Krampus Parades on the fifth of December: the day before St. Nicholas's Feast Day.

Krampus customs have recently been adopted in Southern California and on December 1, the Krampus will be visiting NAM during Friday Night Liberty!

We are very excited to be hosting the Krampus expert, Al Ridenour: Executive Director of Krampus Los Angeles and author of The Krampus and the Old, Dark Christmas: Roots and Rebirth of the Folkloric Devil.

Mr. Ridenour will be sharing with us the origins and traditions of this European "Christmas devil," and the work of Krampus Los Angeles--the first troupe of its kind to bring the Krampus to Southern California. The evening will be highlighted by a visit from the Krampus himself!

7:00 PM Pistahan Traditional Filipino Music and Dance The SAMAHAN Filipino American Performing Arts and Education Center, Inc. presents Pistahan (Festivities) - 42nd Concert of Traditional Philippine Dances and Music. Each two-hour program will showcase festive traditional folk dances and celebratory tribal rituals from different regions of the Philippines. All performances are accompanied with live music provided by string and gong music ensembles, namely the Rondalla and the Pakaraguian Kulintang Ensemble (PKE).

Looking for a much-needed respite from their London cares, what they find on the Italian shore awakens them to a world of beauty, ardor, and the joys of living.

The musical, based on the beloved novel, is directed by Stephen Brotebeck.

8:00 PM Music: Feufollet Feufollet is Americana at its finest—reverential but wholly nonconformist. The young and vibrant southwest Louisiana band takes Cajun, honky-tonk, and string-band music as starting points, keeping an open mind about where their songcraft will lead them next. On their most recent album, "Two Universes", Feufollet prove their Cajun roots don't define them as much as propel them forward. Whispers of the swamp and its time-honored waltzes underpin a modern sound influenced by blues, old-time country ballads, and rock 'n' roll. The band accomplishes the unusual feat of creating a sound that is at once familiar and fresh, classic and yet unmistakably original.
