All Day Heiva San Diego Cultural Festival Heiva San Diego 2019 will feature dancers from Japan, Mexico, the South Pacific, and the USA while showcasing Tahitian communities representing all five archipelagoes in French Polynesia. Discover the richness of friendship, music, drumming, ukulele, tiki carving, singing, arts & crafts, exotic costumes, Polynesian food and the spirit that defines The Islands of Tahiti, including the BEST Dance Competition for Solo & Group Tahitian Dance.

This year's Festival theme is SHARING so please bring your hearts and be prepared to share it with others.

• Friday, August 9th - Miss and Mr Heiva San Diego pageant.
• Saturday, August 10th - Highlights include solo dance competition featuring solo artists and Group Competition followed by a spectacular Fire Knife Performance and the crowning of Miss and Mr. Heiva San Diego. Vendors and island food.
• Sunday, August 11th - Solo finals, awards ceremony, Vendors and island food.

11:00 AM Philippine Cultural Arts Festival The SAMAHAN Filipino American Performance Arts & Education Center will hold its 34th Philippine Cultural Arts Festival on August 10 to 11, 2019, in Balboa Park, at the corner of Park Boulevard and Presidents Way. Annually, SAMAHAN Performing Arts hosts the festival from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on both days. Admission is FREE. The two-day festival offers continuous entertainment of music and dances. The event showcases performances of traditional Filipino folk dances from different regions of the Philippines, folk songs, Rondalla, Angklung (bamboo percussion instrument), Kulintang (gong) music of Southern Philippines and Filipino Martial Arts. Local budding artists will also be performing.

Guest Artists on Saturday - Ruby Ibarra, Jocelyn Enriquez and One Vo1ce Sunday Special - Manila Disco Fever with The Union Band

Added attraction to the Festival are presentations by Filipino American recording artists and veteran performers from the Philippines. On Saturday special numbers will be performed by Rap artist, Ruby Ibarra, dance-pop singer, Jocelyn Enriquez and R&B girl group, One Vo1ce. On Sunday, The Union Band will do a repeat performance of their well-received Manila Disco Fever show at the Old Globe Theater in Balboa Park last May, featuring the '70's Manila sound. The Union is composed of Jet Montelibano, Jessica Casas, Fulton Montoya and Eva Caparas. Be ready to dance to disco music Philippine style!!!!

Balboa Park is a major hub for culture and tourism in San Diego, attracting thousands of visitors each weekend with peaks during the summer season. This is a great opportunity for local artists to present their talents and businesses to sell their goods in a prime location of Balboa Park. Event vendors are invited to rent booths or spaces for canopies to sell their uniquely designed T-shirts, costume jewelry, various products and services. Delicious, popular Filipino food prepared at local Filipino restaurants, including adobo, lumpia, pancit and special Halo-Halo will be sold from food booths.

The Philippine Cultural Arts Festival and cultural/educational programs of SAMAHAN are funded in part with grants from the CA Arts Council, the County of San Diego Community Enhancement Program, The San Diego Foundation - Dr. Lolita Dinoso Carter Endowment, Davita as Corporate Sponsor and Luib Health Center, Community Sponsor and individual contributions.

11:30 AM Oceanside International Film Festival The Oceanside International Film Festival returns for six days' worth of independent cinema and very special events all happening August 4 and August 7 through 11, 2019. The event, which is now entering its ninth annual edition, remains North County's longest running film festival. Every year the event hosts amazing work from around the world and often highlights local filmmakers. OIFF alumni have gone on to be recognized by many festivals collecting accolades around the world and some have even been nominated for an Academy Award.

OIFF 2019 will showcase films from a variety of countries, including but not limited to; France, Australia, Portugal, Spain, and Mexico. For the first time in the festival's history, almost half of the event's full program will be comprised of local works, spotlighting San Diego filmmakers more than ever before. The audience is transported from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge, 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, to meet a startling array of characters. A young man has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto and a woman dreams of marrying rich, which nabs her the man of her dreams.

After 7 years, The Como la Flor Band has become the most respected and trend setter Selena Tribute band in the country. The Como la Flor Band replicates the look, sound and feel of the Tex Mex Queen. The eight band members have developed an amazing on-stage chemistry. The veteran musicians pride themselves on giving their audience an incredible high-energy, qualitative stage show from start to finish.
