11:30 AM Sea Chantey Festival The Maritime Museum of San Diego, along with San Diego Folk Heritage, presents Songs of the Sea—26th annual Sea Chantey Fest.

For centuries, sailors have honed their shipboard skills to the cadence of songs recounting the adventure, tragedy and romance of life at sea. These "sea chanteys" and the sailor's life they describe, come to life aboard the Star of India.

The music begins at 11:30 AM and ends at 4:40 PM with a finale. The Sea Chantey Festival is free with purchase of general admission tickets to the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

Visitors will enjoy sea chanteys and traditional folk music performed by popular local artists such as The Jackstraws, Gemini Junction, Raggle Taggle and more. The Star of India sail crew will demonstrate various shipboard skills traditionally accompanied by sea chanteys, and visitors will have a chance to join in and raise the sails of the historic ship. For a complete performance schedule visit sdmaritime.org.

Come aboard and enjoy some of the best traditional and new maritime music around.

In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood—a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. In the Heights is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.

9:00 PM Stage: Israel Vibration & Roots Radics Mention the name Israel Vibration in reggae music circles and watch the warmth of recognition and appreciation of anyone who has seen or heard this very special vocal group. The positive vibrations emanating from the music of Israel Vibration have been spellbinding audiences, critics and DJs for over three decades. The lead vocalists, Wiss and Skelly, cast a harmonious musical spell, weaving traditional roots reggae with a mesmerizing sound and deeply spiritual message. Israel Vibrations have been touring very strong worldwide for many years. They are regularly featured on most of the major reggae festivals.

Israel Vibration members Cecil Spence (Skelly) and Lascelle Bulgin (Wiss) were born in Jamaica, West Indies. Each is a victim of Poliomyelitis (Polio). They met as children in the Mona Rehabilitation Center, into which they were placed because of their families' limited resources and their needs for specialized medical care. They learned early on the necessity for developing survival skills, and although polio is an undeniably crippling and debilitating disease, the youths never let their physically challenging situation supersede their willpower and their creative abilities. They found strength in the faith of Rastafari through the guidance of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, and began composing and singing songs which expressed their spiritual beliefs.
