1:00 PM Lecture: The Vikings The word "Vikings" has long conjured images of ruthless raiders, but Vikings were also skilled seamen, fearless explorers, warrior-conquerors, nation builders and astute merchants. Learn about the Viking Age, from CE 790 to 1100, a time when Viking dragon ships spread terror and devastation across the seas and along the rivers of Europe. This lecture is free and open to the public, and no registration is required.

7:00 PM Stage: Accidental Death of an Anarchist This play is a farce based on real-life events surrounding Italian railwayman and anarchist Giuseppe Pinelli, who fell - or was thrown - to his death from the fourth floor window of a Milan police station in 1969. Pinelli was accused of bombing a bank (the Piazza Fontana bombing) but was cleared of the charge. The events of the play, however, are fictional.

7:00 PM Lecture: Baja's Wild Side Daniel Cartamil has traveled the Pacific coast of Baja California for over a decade. He discovered a fragile paradise of remote landscapes, wildlife, and cultural treasures, on the verge of being overtaken by modern civilization. At this month's Perspectives lecture, science and art converge as we take a photographic journey through western Baja California illustrated by breathtaking photography from Cartamil's new book, Baja's Wild Side.
