9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Talk: Jack Bowsher Jack Bowsher, former NCC Board Member and retired corporate executive at IBM, will use two case studies (IBM and Accenture) to illustrate how international companies develop worldwide markets that provide thousands of good-paying American jobs.

The complicated world we live in is illuminated a bit more every week at the North County Chapter's Thursday Morning Forum in Rancho Bernardo. Forums begin at 9:30 a.m. with a coffee social and registration, followed at 10 a.m. with a one-hour program and one hour of polite, but freewheeling, Q&A.

Unless otherwise indicated, North County Chapter Thursday Morning Forums are held at The Remington Club, Phase II, 16916 Hierba Drive, Rancho Bernardo. Free parking is available at the adjacent shopping center.

7:30 PM Book Talk on Umberto Saba's "Ernesto" Translator Estelle Gilson will be in conversation with Elio Schaechter about Umberto Saba's "Ernesto", a classic of gay literature about a boy's coming of age as a warehouse apprentice who is seduced by an older employee. The event is free to the public and presented by New York Review Books, which is publishing "Ernesto" this season.

Umberto Saba (1883-1957) is considered one of Italy's greatest and most beloved poets of the 20th century. Estelle Gilson's previous translation of his "Stories and Recollections" has won many awards. She will be signing books. She lives in San Diego.

8:00 PM Stage: Into The Beautiful North San Diego Repertory Theatre closes its 2017/18 season with "Into the Beautiful North," a world premiere written by Karen Zacarías and directed by San Diego REP Artistic Director Sam Woodhouse.

All the men of the sleepy Mexican village of Tres Camarones have left town in search of fortune in the USA. One night, 19-year-old Nayeli watches "The Magnificent Seven" at the local cinema and has a flash of inspiration. She grabs her goth best friend Vampi and her gay confidant Tacho, and sets out on a quest of epic proportions - to find men in the USA and smuggle them back across the border to repopulate and protect her beloved town! And so begins a 1,000 mile road trip from the Pacific Coast of Mexico through the colorful streets of Tijuana to the climactic scene at the Bahia Hotel in Mission Bay
San Diego CA.
