Mexican Encounters 2013
Music and Dance Workshop and Tour in Veracruz, Mexico

June 13 - 23, 2013

This year, we will be offering workshops and excursions in Veracruz, Mexico that will include visits to multiple cities and towns, a traditional fandango music gathering and a local huapanga music and dance Festival. Focus on son jarocho, son huasteca, jarana, marimba, singing, and dance. Excursions to pyramids, museums, beaches, and festivals.

Mexican Encounters is designed primarily for undergraduate and graduate college students, school teachers, and musicians and dancers from around the world who wish intense training with leading artist-teachers. Participants will be able to bring back materials (notation, pictures, videos, and instruments) to share with their performance groups or their students. The program is flexible enough to accommodate both beginning and advance performers. It is designed for those who wish to immerse themselves in a rich cultural experience through performance study.
